Missionaries Go To the Strangest Places
Several months ago my Grandma and Grandpa were going on a mission to Alaska. The day we were leaving to go say good bye to them my Mom said we were going to the MTC. Then I started wondering, “Could there really be a big empty sea? Why would my Grandparents be going there? Would there be buildings there or just a plain old desert?”
On the way there I told my Mom what I was thinking and she started laughing. She said, “Did you think I was saying EMPTY SEA all this time?” I said, “Yes. Isn’t that what you meant?” “No,” she said, “I was saying the MTC, The Missionary Training Center, not a big empty sea!” I said, “Ohhhhh!”
When we got there to say goodbye I told my Grandparents all about it. Instead of crying because they were leaving, we all had something to laugh about. Now every time my family and I hear about someone going to the Empty Sea we all start laughing.
I know that Missionary work is important and even though I miss my Grandparents I’m glad they went on a mission. Sometimes I wonder what it’s going to be like on my own mission.
My Grandma said I should send this story to the friend so I guess I did.

I used to think it was the "Empty Sea" too. I am glad you can laugh about it and you have such a fond memory.
I used to wonder, when my Mom went to a wedding shower, why a bunch of old women would want to take a shower together at a wedding. Would the bride be wearing her wedding dress IN the shower?
What a creative kid you are! This is a good story for The Friend Magazine. I wonder how many other kids have asked the same question. Love from the Robbins in Alaska
Well, I finally got this sent in. It was easier than I thought because there was an E-Mail Link on the Church's website.
